Ckrono & Slesh are two DJs and producers from Florence, Italy, which seems to be one of the major hotspots for talented global club music artists nowadays. On their previous Enchufada release – the party-starting Hebe on the Upper Cuts series – we wondered if the Equator had shifted a few miles North and was now passing through Italy. Now that the boys are ready to release their brand new EP ‘Slang’, this suspicion seems to be all but confirmed.
‘Slang’ perfectly exemplifies the Italian duo’s vibrant and fun-loving approach to club music, borrowing heavily from bass music and adding a tropical twist without ever losing sight of the dancefloor’s needs. Title track Slang translates this style into a tight, club-ready beat that simultaneously channels UK funky, afro-house and baile funk while being able to sound completely unique. Serpentine melodies that simultaneously hypnotize and make you dance are the icing on this tropical-flavoured cake, which is followed by Toca Tu on the flip side, providing fast kuduro-inspired drums and breaks, electrifying basslines and airy synths for contrast.
Ckrono & Slesh’s new EP is the perfect introduction to one of Europe’s most dynamic production duos in the thriving global club music scene, as the Florence natives once again drop undeniable club anthems for the world’s most tropical dancefloors. You’ve been warned!
